Unfortunately, Sun's proprietary rack-mount kit for the E450 server presents the data center worker with a number of problems. First the kit tends to pinch users' fingers during installation. Second, many users feel that the slide arms in Sun's kit are not strong enough to support the weight of the server. Finally, Sun's rack-mount kit forces the server to protrude up to 1.5 inches from the rails, precluding the use of a front door.

SharkRack has addressed these problems with the 40-E450-R19-H, an alternative rack-mount kit for the Sun E450 server. This very attractive kit, when combined with a Sun E450 server, will occupy 24.5" (14RU) of computer cabinet space. The kit is very adjustable in depth from 28 to 36.5", and offers a robust slide out tray that allows for ease of maintenance and access.

To remove the threat of pinched fingers, the 40-E450-R19-H allows for installation without having to flip the server upside down. In addition, the kit has slides that lock in the fully extended position so that the tray cannot move during server installation.

The 40-E450-R19-H has slides that can withstand pressure of more than 300 pounds (40 pounds more than the weight of a Sun E450). The kit is also built to recess the server 5/8 of an inch into the cabinet to ensure that a front door can be used.
