Unfortunately, Sun's proprietary rack-mount kit for the Sun T3 server does not allow the server to be mounted in non-proprietary cabinets. To resolve this issue, SharkRack has developed the 40-T3-R19-H, an alternative rack-mount kit that allows the T3 to be mounted in any 19" EIA standard computer cabinet. The 40-T3-R19-H offers a wide range of depth adjustability from 24" to 36".

A unique feature about the 40-T3-R19-H is the reduced height of the rack-mount kit compared to its Sun counterpart. The Sun T3 product can be purchased as either a workgroup or enterprise product. The workgroup product has two chassis, while the enterprise product has one chassis. Sun's proprietary rack-mount kit is set at the height of the two chassis, which does not allow for the flexibility of only racking one chassis without wasting 3 RUs (RU=1.75") of cabinet space. The SharkRack 40-T3-R19-H racks a single T3 chassis, which allows for flexible placement within the cabinet. In addition, two 40-T3-R19-H's combined only take up 6 RUs within a cabinet as compared to its Sun counterpart which requires 7 RUs.

The 40-T3-R19-H is very easy to install and manage. Each side mounting bracket can be mounted individually and chassis mounts attach to each side of the T3. The chassis mounts and T3 then slide on the side mounting brackets and are locked down.
